English: Derived from the crosses adorning many European flags, the flag of the City of The Dalles features a white cross symbolizing the four cardinal directions from which people have come to this area for millennia, and a gold rooster, national symbol of France (from whose language the City has its name) and a prominent feature atop Old St. Peter's Landmark, a 19th century Dalles landmark.
